ORIGINAL STORY: “18-year old Kimberley Vlaeminck from Kortrijk, Belgium, has pressed charges against a tattoo-artist. She asked for 3 stars but the tatoo artist tattooed 56 stars on her face without her even noticing. ‘Look at me, i’m ugly,’ she said. The girl is afraid to show up at work. Kimberley is in shock. Last sunday she went with her father Diego, her boyfriend and her sister to the tattooshop Tattoo Box in Kortrijk. She always wanted to get 3 dots tattooed next to her left eye. Her dad wanted even to pay for them as a family tradition. The tattooman convinced the girl to choose stars in place of dots. Kimberley said the communication was not very good. The man only spoke French and Kimberley speaks Flemish and a little bit of English. When her family went for icecream, Kimberley got tattooed. ‘I told him I only needed 3 stars but he kept on going. I asked him 3 times to stop. Suddenly he asked me if he had to color the 2 big stars. I didn’t know what he was talking about. At that time my father stepped in.’ Daddy Diego was furious. Kimberley told her dad that she must have fallen asleep. @PIERCED6966 –first of all i know the story very well her father wasnt there atm she was getting the tatoo—as to her falling asleep no clue but it is possible i have my whole back done and i was asleep for 3 hours while the first half was being done—all in all if that was the case it is still her fault either way
@BoatBuoy1 To you it’s desecration but to a lot of people it’s decorative. I mean you can’t just go slaggin off everything that you don’t like. It’s each to thier own. I’m a tattooist, I love my Tattoo’s and I love Tattooing people. It’s wrong that people like you discriminate against people like us! For example: If you met me, you probably wouldn’t get to know me because of my tattoo’s and piercings but if you weren’t so ignorant, you might end up with a great friend… Make Sense? I think so!
i know people that have fallen asleep during a tattoo, but i don’t know about facial tattoos i’d figure that’d be more painful or uncomfortable.

and I think this is a prime example, since this story broke out, the silly young girl has admitted she lied to police and has dropped all charges (google it) she now very much regrets getting the tattoos done because she feels she cannot even go out in public any more. She has not been able to get a job and now has no friends whatsoever – you cannot tell me the decision to have 56 stars tattoo’d on ones face was a clever,well calculated move by an intelligent person. Otherwise, why the regret?
@MissNogzzie I agree completely, years and years ago it may have been a tribal marking, but in this day and age there aren’t too many tribes left, so this “art form” has been taken on and continued by people that are generally considered to be of a lower class than those without. I know many people with tattoos from their younger days, but if they are honest, not one of them is actually glad they had them done and all wish they hadn’t desecrated their body in such a manor.
@bahamuthze I’m not in anyway ignorant when it comes to this subject, unfortunately society generally jumps to conclusions based on appearance, and the easiest way to ensure you can put in the same category as the worlds lowlifes, is to “go get some ink” Although society’s assumption based on appearance is completely wrong in so many ways, more often than not, assumptions are made and thats the end of it – the tattoo’d person doesn’t even get the opportunity demonstrate how fantastic they are.

Tattooing is an art form. It wasn’t worn just by Criminals, Sailors and/or Trailer trash as you say… Tattooing was started years ago by Polynesian and Maori tribes. Each mebmer of the tribe had tattoo’s each a different style to state thier rank or place in the tribe. I know this because I myself am a tattooist and I love my job…
