Question by cyrusman122000: do people get tattoos just to look cool?
I graduated high school last year and noticed so many people from my school getting tattoos when they turned 18 or shortly after and I’m thinking they just did it cause they thought it made them look cool or so they can show it off. Most of them were really stupid things too like butterflies, roses, your own initials, a symbol. And when i asked why did you get it they said ” because I liked the way it looked” I wouldn’t get something inked permanently on my body just because it looked cool.

Yes, people do the most stupid things just to get attention from other people.
If you’re going to get a tattoo it should be of something meaningful to you.

They get them primarily because they are drunk.
Everyone does stuff for there own reason. I don’t believe anything is wrong with it unless there is a meaning behind it. How do you know that butterfly or rose didn’t have a significant meaning? It might of haven’t but you never know…
People get tattoos to look HOT
Ignorant high school children get them because it makes them feel like they look older, just like they think smoking cigarettes makes them look cool. As you get more mature and realize that it is a symbolic thing that stays on your body forever, the reason behind the tattoo is much greater than just for looks.
No, very few people get tattoos to look cool. Most people get tattoos because it has meaning to them, for a loved one or they just love artwork. There is nothing wrong with getting a tattoo because you love the way it looks and appreciate great artwork so much you would get it tattooed on you. I got my first tattoo at 20 and now I’m 21 and have 3 and love them all. Also people get tattoos for themselves but don’t mind to show it off and there is nothing wrong with that either. As long as they thought it through and it means something to them then it doesn’t matter why they get tattooed so don’t worry about it so much. You should get 1 and then you will understand why people get tattooed.

getting tattoos of stars, butterflies 4 no reasons etc is just stupid
Ok, well I waited until I was 30 to get my first tattoo, guess what it is? yep its 7 butterflies going up my arm. they represent each one of my children so YES, even what you consider lame butterflies can have very special meaning to the person who got them. As far as cool goes, Im way over what anyone else thinks I should put on my body or not.
